I am running a 3.4.1 installation with multi-site enabled (sub-directory mode), and I’m looking for a way to install multiple sites at a single domain name, in subdirectories. That is, I want to have:

foo.example.com (normal site, and root of network)
foo.example.com/bar (different site with its own theme and users)
    foo.example.com/baz (another different site)

    And also have:

    bar.example.com (normal site)

I’ve installed this plug-in, and I was able to create a network at foo.example.com (there was an existing blog at that address). I can see the network, and assign blogs to it, but I don’t see anywhere to manage those sites once I’ve done that; they no longer show up in the “Sites” panel for the overall network, and the dashboard for foo.example.com still looks like a single site dashboard, without network capabilities.

Is there a way to do this?

    Hi tholub –

You do not need to create a Network at your existing site’s current address. WP will probably not serve the new network’s sites to you there, since you already have a network and sites at those URLs. I would delete the new Network But take a backup and make sure you select the right one! ??

In your case, all you need to do is create a new Network at bar.example.com. You can then create and manage bar.example.com/[sites] sites.

Creating sites like /bar and /baz is not a function of this plugin and should be done through WordPress’s “Sites” admin pages.

Please let me know if you have any further questions about this!

    Hi!

In your case, all you need to do is create a new Network at bar.example.com. You can then create and manage bar.example.com/[sites] sites.

I created a new Network test.upsic.org but I do not see a way to create test.upsic.org/[sites], only [sites].test.upsic.org is/are available. How I can do this?

    EDIT
The test.upsic.org Network are on a subdomains Multisite installation. If I need to create test.upsic.org/[sites] the Multisite installation must be a subfolders one?

If I need to create test.upsic.org/[sites] the Multisite installation must be a subfolders one?

I tried that, but without success! :((. Now, when I try to create a new Network, I have this error:

DNS: New domain IP ( ) does not match current IP ( xxx.xx.xx.xxx ).
    Check your DNS settings.

Finally I succeeded! Thanks for the plugin!
