[Plugin: Networks for WordPress] Network with "www." domain possible?

    Is it possible to have a Network with a domain starting with “www.”?

    For example. We have to have our main site accessible at https://www.example.com and have sub domain WP sites at example1.example.com, example2.example.com.

    Activating this plugin causes the sub domain sites to error;

    No site defined on this host. If you are the owner of this site, please check Debugging a WordPress Network for help.

    The plugin diagnostic reports;

    Checking hosted sites for correct Network-related values:

    Site 7 (example1.example.com/) has an invalid domain setting.

    I gather this would need to be https://www.example1.example.com?

    Is there something we’re missing?

    Hi ecenica,

    It is possible to have a Network based off any domain, including one starting with “www.” Sounds like you may have created new networks that overlapped the namespace of your primary network.

    Is yours a sub-domain install or a sub-directory install?
    Is your main network “example.com”?

    We’re running a sub-domain install. We were getting the error when our main install was running on https://www.example.com (which we achieved through an htaccess/mysql hack).

    As a workaround we’ve setup example.com as a network and moved our other sub domain sites to that network.

    We’ve then added an htaccess rule to rewrite traffic from https://example.com to https://www.example.com.

    A bit confusing, but at the end of it we have a multiple network WordPress, with multiple sub domain sites all working exactly as we want it to. ??

    Stating obvious, but for clarities-sake example.com is not the real domain name ??
