• I am trying to get a set of content blocks for my front page using the front-page.php template, and nothing appears, not even sure where to look for it. All the links to the documentation come up with 404 errors on the Developer’s website.

OK I finally got it to work…sort of. I changed my front-page.php file to a template with the appropriate header to define it as a template, and then selected it in a page. OK, the content block editor showed up. But I added some test content into the content block, but it did not show up when I displayed the page.

I get where this is going, but it is still not fully documented and needs to be, either by the community or the developer.

Frankly, it would be a little more work but ultimately easier for my clients to create a series of sidebars to include in my front page, and then use improved include page to populate those regions with content.

I love WordPress and always try to recommend it to clients, and then ultimately find that they want and can benefit from a drag and drop “region and block” solution with WYSIWYG editors that Drupal has already built in. I’m not sure what 3.1 is bringing, but I am disappointed that 3.0 did not have more of those capabilities. It takes twice the time to code up a front page in WP that only approximates what Drupal does in practically no time at all. And that is what end users want.

Until WP gets this right, it is going to be a CMS for coders who want a website, and not a true end-user friendly CMS.
