I am running a managed multisite; one of my clients is a musician with mp3 clips on his home page. Your fine plugin has worked wonderfully for him for the better part of six month, but some time in the past week stopped playing. His site is a domain-masked node on a multisite installation:

Any insights you can share? I have a canonically plain-vanilla multisite install, and haven’t found any articles on recent bugs introduced by the release of 5.3.1 core.

    Thanks in advance,
    Benjamin Barnett

Hi Benjamin, it’s working for me now (but was slow to come in), did you find the cause?

Absolutely not. I fear it’s so slow to load that most visitors will assume it’s broken, not slow, despite the ‘loading’ flashing message. Can you offer any assistance diagnosing/squashing this bug, and do you need any particular sort of site/account access in order to do so?

a-HA. Works in FFox (for Mac) but NOT in Safari (in fact, not at ALL — it wasn’t just slow to load, it failed to load). Is there a browser-compatibility issue I wasn’t aware of?

Or (*hopeful glimmer*) does this differential across browsers help you pin down the problem in any way?

It should be ok in Safari.

    Likely causes:
    1) mp3 encoding
    2) conflict between player and theme or other plugin on the site.

If you’re not sure that the same mp3s were playing fine a while ago then use this url for testing: https://www.sjward.org/seven.mp3

If still no good then I’d start by switching to one of the default wp themes, see if all works ok. If not then start disabling plugins, checking each time. Just need to try to pin point any conflict.

Or if you can’t interrupt the site like that, then try setting up a new test blog and see if the default install is working ok with the player, then add theme/plugins etc.

Let me know how it goes.
