Hi, are you uploading the slide images via FTP? You need to upload the images via WordPress and set them as featured images on the slide post. Check out the documentation on using Meteor Slides for more info.

Hi Josh – thanks for responding so quickly. I’m uploading the images from my c drive, not my ftp or desktop and whatever I do upload from my c drive I also transfer the same to my WP/uploads/2011 folder via ftp. Thanks again for your help.

You need to upload them using the WordPress media uploader by clicking “Set featured image” on the slide editor page, does that make sense?

I am doing exactly that. In fact the only thing that I’m not doing that you are doing (from what I’ve seen in the videos) is in the WP media uploader I am going to my Media Library to get the image because they were already there vs. going to my computer. When I first uploaded the pictures I got them from my computer but as you probably know WP uploads files into the current months folder but in my cpanel or FTP, I only see the initial folder created when I started with WP so I can only find the uploads/2011/07 folder and have just been changing the names of anything that was uploaded after 07. So these images were uploaded into the 10 folder, which I do not see so I tried to change the 10 to 07 in the url in the WP media uploader but it didn’t take, so I created the 10 folder myself. Then when I tried to upload again, WP puts a number in any additional file that’s already been uploaded. So I’m trying to work all around that so I created the 10 directory, ftp’d the images from my computer into that folder and then selected them from the WP media library.

OK, were the images that you are using from the media library added before you installed Meteor Slides? If so they won’t have the featured image size for those images, as they are generated when you upload the images. I would try uploading the images again.

It sounds like you are having a permissions issue with your upload folders. You could try changing the permissions, but the simplest fix might be to uncheck the sort by month option in the settings so the images are just uploaded to the main uploads folder.

I just logged in today and read your response. I’m not sure if the images were uploaded before I installed MS but will try to upload them again and I will also uncheck the month option in WP. Thanks again Josh and I will let you know how it turns out.

    Hi Josh,
I tried your suggestions above and I now get the space where the picture should be downloaded with the small box w/in the space that you get when a picture doesn’t download and I unchecked the WP month download option so my files are just going into my uploads folder. I went ahead and put the code in at the bottom of a page and it rotated the image names. So for some reason my pictures are not downloading. They aren’t anything special, jpgs of vessels and my size parameter is 599 px wide by 195 px high (and the pics are cropped to those approximate dimensions too)..
    Thanks – GWCowan

I don’t see a slideshow on your site, do you have one on there? Or could you add one somewhere so that I can see exactly what is loading?

    (@gwcowan)

I put a slideshow in my contacts menu item so you can see it there.

Thanks, I took a look at the slideshow and everything looks OK, that should work.

My guess is that it has something to do with having WordPress installed in a subdirectory.

This URL (https://alaskaseafoodcooperative.org/WP/), should be redirecting to this URL (https://alaskaseafoodcooperative.org/), I think it might not be setup correctly. It is also possible that it is giving you issues because the directory is all caps, when it should be lowercase. In theory it should matter, but the results could vary depending on how it is setup, and the specifics of your web server.

I would take a look at the documentation on giving WordPress its own directory and confirm that everything is setup correctly. Some if this would involve using FTP, but if you’d like to email me a WordPress login I can take a look.

Thanks Josh. I’ll take a look at the documentation and see what I can determine and get back to you.

Josh – You mention above that the directory is in all caps….where are you seeing this?

For anyone else who might have a similar issue, I figured out that the problem was the uploads URL was set incorrectly.

Under Settings -> Media, the “Store uploads in this folder” option was set to “/services/webpages/a/l/alaskaseafoodcooperative.org/public/WP/wordpress-content/uploads”. I changed it to the default option of “wp-content/uploads” and I was able to upload some test images.
