I have recently started a www.remarpro.com website, hosted by Green Geeks, and have version 4.4.1 running (did a manual update to be sure). I am trying to install some plugins but my dashboard menu is not showing the plugin option… which is making it quite difficult to add plugins!

I’ve read a few posts with similar problems but most seem to be resolved by updating, which I’ve done already.

I’ve also read a few posts suggesting I need to access the “Network Admin’s Settings” but I cannot see any link to it from my dashboard. As far as I can tell this only becomes an option if you set up a multisite network but I only need one site and I assume I should be able to add plugins no matter how many sites i have. Is this correct?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

    @ NeoTechnomad

So, you can login with either totemsustainability.com/wp-admin or totemsustainability.com/wp-login.php – correct?

No, I can no longer log into my admin page from totemsustainability.com/wp-admin or totemsustainability.com/wp-login.php, the only address that will give me access now is totemsustainabilitydotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin

There is already a directory called “plugins” in my wp-content directory, along with themes and uploads.

    Okay.

    According to greengeeks (https://www.greengeeks.com/kb/2249/what-are-my-anonymous-name-servers/)…

Every account created on our reseller service can utilize our anonymous name servers.

    The anonymous name servers are:

    Primary Nameserver:
    ns1.websitehostserver.net

    Secondary Nameserver:
    ns2.websitehostserver.net

After switching the name servers on the domain name at the domain registrar, please allow 24-48 hours for the domain to fully resolve.

whatsmydns (https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/totemsustainability.com) is indicating that you are pointed there, but it may not have completely resolved. If this goes on too long, inform the techs at greengeeks and send them the whatsmydns link.

Through cPanel, you can access phpMyadmin, select your database and look at (your-db-prefix)_options and check to see if “siteurl” and “home” are the correct address and are the same.

I guess the Green Geeks has signed a contract with the WordPress.COM (WPEngine/WP VIP). You can contact your hosting provider (Green Geeks) and ask them to fix the configuration problem. So far, (NeoTechnomad) I can access https://totemsustainability.com/wp-login.php

Everything points to it. Here’s the CSS: https://totemsustainability.com/wp-content/themes/twentysixteen/style.css?ver=4.4.1

Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies then trying the login: https://totemsustainability.com/wp-login.php

    Yes, they both are https://totemsustainability.com

This takes me to a 404 Not Found page…

    No change…

I’ll contact Green Geeks and suggest this. When I go to totemsustainability.com/wp-login I get an error page telling me totemsustainability.wordpress.com doesn’t exist…

Does it matter who the domains are registered with as long as the DNS it pointing in the right direction?

You are now off-line, so they must be updating the DNS: https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/totemsustainability.com
I think patience is in order for a day and if you are still off-line, talk to Green Geeks techs.

Finally got this sorted out! Here’s how it went down for anyone still interested:

I spoke to Green Geeks, my web hosts, who did a load of checks and determined that everything was working correctly their end. The only thing Green Geeks could not see was what was going on at my registrars end (The Company Warehouse) and recommended I switch the domain, which would be free anyway. I figured it would make sense for my web host to also be my registrar and it would be good to have everything in one place so I initiated the domain transfer.

I received confirmation that the transfer had been initiated and then nothing. I tried it again with the same result so I called Green Geeks and they told me to check the emails associated with the domain. I called The Company Warehouse and asked them to tell what email addresses were associated with the domain and they told me it was my personal email and their admin email, which they’ve not received anything on and recommended I initiated the transfer again (they got a bit arsey with me). So I initiated the transfer again and still no luck.

I called The Company Warehouse again (I might have got a bit arsey with them this time!) and they agreed to change all associated email addresses to my personal email address. I reinitiated the transfer and I finally got the authorisation email to switch the domain registrar.

I then had to wait a week for everything to transfer over and finally when I logged into my admin page everything was there as it should be! I guess it was a problem with The Company Warehouse being the registrar.

Anyway, problem sorted and I’d like to thank NeoTechnomad and datzone for their help and support throughout this troubled time!

@dodi659 It’ll be hidden follow below steps to show files.
