[Plugin: MediaElement.js – HTML5 Video & Audio Player] v2.9.1 not working in IE 8 or 9

The player works in Chrome and Firefox. In IE9 the player renders but shows the spinning wait icon indefinitely and never plays video. On IE8 the player renders and says it’s playing video (you can can see the progress bars moving) but there is no actual video or audio, just a black rectangle.
