[Plugin: Media Categories] How to add categories?

    Your plugin looks great!

    But how do you add new categories? I see only an option to check “Uncategorized” but nothing to add my own. I’ve tried this with images already in Media Library, and also while uploading new images.

    Do you need to dig into the code, or is there something in the interface, like Jason Corradino’s Searchable Categories (he has “+ add new category” option)?

    I’ve logged out and in again, cleared the cache.

    Used latest versions of FF and Chrome.

    Latest version of wp.

    Any help you can offer is appreciated!

    Unfortunately the interface currently does not have a way to add terms from the Media page. Probably an oversight on my part due to the way in which I use this plugin.

    If you are using the normal built-in Categories taxonomy, then you can add new terms through Posts > Categories, or through any of the other ways you normally add new Categories. Same goes for Tags or any other taxonomy that already has an interface where you can add new terms.

    If you created a custom taxonomy just for media, than I must apologize, as I did not take your use-case into consideration when creating this plugin. I will surely solve this for the next release.

    Thanks so much for your articulate reply. I appreciate you taking the time, especially for a tool that is free.

    Looks like I need to study up on taxonomy ??

    If your unfamiliar with the work “taxonomy” then you probably aren’t using a custom one.

    “Categories” are a taxonomy, and “Tags” are a taxonomy. If your using the plugin in its default form, then you are using “Categories” for your media. In which case what I said above applies. You can simply add new categories through the normal way you add categories for posts. This can be done by navigating to Posts > Categories in the WordPress admin.
