• I installed this plugin to verify my site with Google Webmaster. I copied and pasted the meta tag from the Google verification site into the Google Webmaster Tools meta tag box and I saved the changes and the script on the side of the box said “Enabled”. Then I went back to the Google verification site and hit verify. I got the message: Verification failed for https://www.cardinalscarwash.com/ using the Meta tag method (less than a minute ago). Your meta tag is not formatted correctly. To avoid errors, copy and paste the contents of the meta tag directly from the instructions…. I saw that in the Google Webmaster Tools box in the plugin it had added forward-slashes to the meta tag before each of the quotations. I tried to get rid of them but everytime I “save changes” it adds the forward-slashes. Instead of :

    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="81XMfbWe_aPrlmPfIfYPhYOJtAZM5FqU4aLyRjhfTpE" />. It keeps putting in : <meta name=\"google-site-verification\" content=\"81XMfbWe_aPrlmPfIfYPhYOJtAZM5FqU4aLyRjhfTpE\" />

And as this is not the correct format for the meta tag google is not accepting it. Why is it doing this and how can this be fixed so I can put in the correct meta tag to verify my site?
