Plugin makes mobile homepage … the homepage on my desktop

    So, A bunch of people started to send me emails telling me that the main page of my website was showing the mobile homepage (when they were viewing the page from their desktop). This is a huge issue for me. The plugin was working fine last week … now the homepage is always pulling up the mobile homepage. I had to disable the plugin in order to get my desktop homepage back up.

    Any idea on how I can resolve this? I am NOT using multisite. Nor am I using a child theme (I have a completely separate theme). I also have WordPress updated and all of the plugins.

    Well, I tried deactivating the plugin, so the mobile site wouldn’t appear (when we view the site from a desktop) … after 12 hours, the mobile site was STILL coming up. I tried renaming the mobile theme FOLDER on the server … and that worked for a little while … but then the site started pulling up the mobile site AGAIN. It wasn’t until I completely removed the mobile site theme from the server that the regular site went up again.

    Not sure if I can put much faith in this plugin.

    The Same thing is happening here, mostly with Safari on macs.. We haven’t found a solution either.. Cannot imagine we’re the only ones out here with that issue..

    I think I found the problem … check out the .htaccess file. Another plugin may have entered some information into the file that cause it to constantly start changing the site over to mobile. For me it was the W3 Cache plugin.

    Found an issue that can cause this.

    When the first option, iPhone/iPod Touch Theme, is changed, it also changes the desktop theme. BUT it is also the only one that changes the theme on the Kindle (the only tablet device I have to test with).

    I have no .htaccess file on the server. Can someone give an example of theirs that fixed this?

    FYI .htaccess files are hidden in some FTP clients and/or not available for editing on some hosting accounts. You may need to contact your hosting provider for more info or google view hidden files for the OS that you are using.
