[Plugin: MailChimp List Subscribe Form] Doesn't work with WPML

  • Please make this widget compatible with multilingual websites. I am sure the developers will be happy to work with you https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/

    What WPML does is that it creates and manages separate language pages/posts, including special post types so that multilingual content can be made available.

    Multilingual websites usually have to have multiple MailChimp accounts or at least multiple MailChimp lists – 1 for each language…each with its own signup form. Ideally what this widget would do is get the page URL for each language account/list’s signup form, and then display based on which language the website page is displayed in…

    One way could be to collect the account info in widget instead of settings…that way, one would be able to use multiple Mailchimp widgets…and using Dynamic Widgets plugins, one could set up the conditions under which specific Mailchimp widgets would show, e.g. English list on English pages, German list on German pages, etc.

    i was wondering if anyone has found a working solution, either with MC or another provider?

    i’ve closed my ticket with MC after finding a fix and MC have asked i offer an update here. i wish i could offer something that was useful but i don’t have anything solid to offer but i hope the following helps.

    MC were completely hands off and did not want to engage. WPML were very helpful and offered to work with MC although this was not reciprocated. WPML support spent a lot of time looking at this on my site but could not locate an issue – but they remained involved throughout the process.

    In the end i striped my site right down and removed WPML and rebuilt. I embedded new code into a widget and noticed this worked but only when the original widget that was not working was attached. i attempted to merge the two blocks of code together and have cobbled together a working solution. I know this information is nothing solid but i hope it offers something of use to someone else looking for a resolve.
