Thanks. It looks like the problem is that you have this CSS on your site hiding it:

.pagination.pagination {
    display: none !important;
}

You’ll need to try to override that to fix it.

#novelist-book-pagination {
    display: block !important;
}

I took advantage of your advice, the pagination is now working. But when I go to page ../page/2 I get 404 error

Or change your books page slug to something other than books.
