• I’ve been using localendar for a year, I am a paid subscriber and heavy user and I’m growing frustrated with the difficulty in getting technical support.

    Can anyone recommend another online calendar compatible with wordpress with reliable tech support available?

    I’m a heavy user and need the following features:
    * Repeating events, daily, weekly, monthly, every X# of weeks, etc.
    * Ability to skip certain dates in a repeating event
    * Twitter integration
    * Color-coded categories
    * Ability to view an entire week at once
    * Mini-calendar view

    Also, I really, REALLY want an efficient way to upload events to the calendar, like a CSV upload with all fields included. With localendar, I can’t upload all details with a CSV and it seriously affects how much time I need to spend posting events.

    You can see my calendar here to get a sense of how I use it: https://www.localendar.com/public/Antonia3000

    Thanks so much!

  • Hi KFC,

    Sorry you’re looking to move (but thanks for listing some of our cooler features!). I did find 2 tickets and 1 forum post from you earlier this year, and I believe the related questions/issues were addressed in each case. I couldn’t find anything since about February, so I am curious as to the source of your frustration.

    As a reminder, besides the forums at https://www.localendar.com/forums/support and the Contact Us at localendar.com/calendar/contact, we also have extensive online docs at https://www.localendar.com/docs

    Related to importing: Our CSV import was designed to support what is exported by Outlook. We also support the iCalendar format (ics), which let you specify every property of an event (but when you get everything, the consequence is that it’s harder to work with). The CSV is a good way to get *most* of your event info uploaded and then customize it through our event editor.

    And as you may know, we also have a “Wish List” section on the forums for our members to suggest enhancements. We’ve implemented many of their suggestions over the years.

    I’ve had several issues since February. I’m concerned that you say you looked at my issues on the forum and didn’t see anything since then.

    I submitted a ticket yesterday to which I have not yet received a response. Every time I open an event to make a change, the date reverts to Jan 1, 2000 and the category reverts to the default. The date/category error has happened randomly in the past and was not easily repeatable, but now seems constant. (In addition to the issue I noted in that ticket, I now see that my Tweets are not going out AGAIN.)

    The time before that, probably a few weeks ago, I needed help with issues regarding uploading a CSV. Some issues may have been caused by me, but there was also something up with the localendar side. I asked 3 times in my forum post for assistance over a period of a couple days, gave up and manually entered my events. Maybe someone responded but it was too late for me by then. A month before that I did have an issue with Twitter that was resolved…but like I said above, the issue is back again.

    I have asked for more fields to be made available for uploading via CSV. The “location” field, for example, is a glaring omission and one that makes my job a lot harder. “Category” would also be helpful. I’d really like to be able to upload my CSV and be done, as it is right now, I have to go into each event after uploading. I wish the CSV feature saved more time for me than it does. I’ve also asked for advice on the forums, at least twice, about making the uploads more efficient and have never received a response.

    The contact page is hard to find. It’s not even listed in the docs section. I find that dismaying and would expect contact to be easier for a paying customer.

    So my frustration is that I am a heavy user and maintaining my calendar takes a lot of my time! I upgraded to a premium account, and, the time saving features available don’t save as much time as I’d hoped + tech support is difficult to access = too much time taken away from the rest of my responsibilities. I NEED all of this to be easier.

    Can localendar make all of this easier? If so, great, I’ll hang on and see how the improvements go.

    Strange – when I searched the tickets I actually saw one dated “2000” and thought it must be a mistake. It may be related to your date issue.

    “Contact Us” is on the footer of all main site+forum pages. I wish we could always respond < 24 hours (and I wish I got that from site like Yahoo and Google!). We triage requests according to the order in which they were received, and also several “difficulty” levels. First responders can usually handle “How do I do XXX” questions quickly, but debugging a problem has to move on to someone more specialized.

    “Location” has been on the CSV import for a while now. Have you downloaded the sample CSV recently (https://www.localendar.com/sample.csv) ? Perhaps we should highlight this in an announcement to the forums.

    Additionally on the CSV issue, because we want to retain support with Outlook, we only support the fields which they do (and recurrence and category info aren’t part of their spec). So I am afraid you will still need to manually edit these on your CSV imports for now.

    Re: Twitter
    ” like I said above, the issue is back again.”
    The previous issue was caused by a change Twitter made to their API that we had to accommodate. You did not mention in either of your posts what ‘issue is back again’. AFAIK, Twitter is still working correctly. Have you checked under Options->General to make sure your account is still authorized?

    BTW, Further responses will come via your open ticket.
