    Thanks for the feedback,
    notes to your suggstions:

    a) should be easy to implement, I will have a look at it in the next version

b+c) is a little bit more difficult, perhaps I will add them in a later release.

I want to keep the plugin simple and don’t want to add too many options, but I’m open for good suggestions which are required by a lot of people.

Thank you mibuthu for the a) in the new upgrade…

I think alphabetical order should not be so difficult ??

I hope this plugin will fly in downloads and usage ??

    Luca

    b) is done now with version 0.2.5.

I also want to include c) in one of the next version.

    Mike

I was evaluating 2 plugins, Link View and Bookmarks Shortcode.

    – Link View works 100% OK on WP 3.4.1 but does not have exclude_category, and I need it.

    – Bookmarks Shortcode supports exclude_category but have this issue:
If you have a template with more than 1 column, then you can see list symbols (disc, square or circle) showing in a wrong position: Suppose your template have 2 columns and shortcode is at right, then disc symbol appears in the left colum. This issue is happening for Firefox and IE, in Chrome all is OK.

so, Link View supporting exclude_category would be perfect… or Bookmarks Shortcode with no issue.

    @aaanadie:
I have added the attribute “exclude_cat” in the new version 0.3.1 of the linkview plugin.
I hope this is what you have expected.

I updated to 0.3.1 today, works perfect.
Update: Does not work in Spanish. I do not know why, works ok in the English page but does not show nothing in Spanish page. I checked html code, it is exactly the same in both pages. I still testing and will report here later.

    Thank you very much.

Only works on English page. I added a French page just to check it, but does not work in Spanish nor French.

What exactly do you mean with “not work”?
I know that there is no translation available at the moment, so the admin page is available in english only.
But I think you don’t talk about that issue.
Can you give me a more detailed description of your problem?

I have a multilingual site, English and Spanish. This plugin works perfect when I use it in the Home English page, but does not show any link or anything in the Spanish Home page. I added a french home page just to check if that issue is related to Spanish language but got same result in the french page, so I thing is a location issue. I am using qTranslate plugin.
    Please check this sample:
    https://1energy1.com/wp/testpage1/
here you can see page source in English and Spanish.

Ok. I tried to reproduce your problem, but I can’t. I have installed the qTranslate plugin and added some languages. Afterwards I have modified the text for the different languages and updated the page. But everything works as expected.

I also had a look at the source code of your site. The first thing you should do is to remove the code tags around the linkview shortcode, but I don’t think that this will solve your problem. Please also double check if the shortcode with the same attributes is included in the page code of every language. Perhaps also try to put in the exactly same page code to each language for testing.
At the moment I do not have an other idea what is going wrong in your case.

This is just a testing website, so I eliminated any plugin but Link View and qTranslate, checked for updates, WordPress version is 3.4.1, changed theme, new blank page, same results:

I am using Bookmarks Shortcode in my production site for the moment.

    Thanks

Thank you Mike for the new features! I think that this plug-in could grow a lot in the market ??

    Regards
    Luca

awesome plugin thank you! do you think in a later release we could add an option in the short code to display the description on the page under the link?

The hover effect is great however, alot of folks like to see the description with the link so they can see at a glance which to choose to click on?

Thanks again for a wonderful plugin!

@eagledancing, I would also find the option to show the description, under the link itself, useful.
It would be very nice to have it added to a class so that you could style it different with your own css.

Maybe there is some way to do this already?
    Please let me know ??

    By the way, great plugin!
    Best regards,

    Gustaf

O.k., I will include a possibility to show the description. Perhaps I also include css adjustment options to allow changes of the output format. I’m not sure yet how I want to integrate that but I will work on it.
At the moment I don’t have a lot of time to work on it but I will try to include in until end of October.
