I can install and activate the plugin just right, but when I hit the button to start the process, it stops very early and doesn’t even give any logs.

  • Hi Manuel5cc,

That’s pretty strange behavior. What version of PHP and WordPress are you using? Does the Diagnostic page list everything as being green? When you hit the button, does anything happen at all?

    Hi Scott:
PHP version is 7.0.12 and WordPress 4.6.1

The diagnostic page shows everything in green.

At one time it randomly worked and the activity log showed this:

[2016-10-31 09:06:36] Manuel5cc has started generating static files
    [2016-10-31 09:06:37] Setting up
    [2016-10-31 09:06:51] Fetched 0 of 0 pages/files
[2016-10-31 09:06:57] ZIP archive created: Click here to download
    [2016-10-31 09:07:03] Wrapping up

    Hi Manuel,

That helps a lot, thanks. A couple more questions that might help me narrow this down a bit:

    – Are there any rows in your wp_simply_static_pages (or similarly named) MySQL table?
    – Is there anything in your Apache/PHP/MySQL logs that would indicate an issue? (I know you mentioned there were no logs, I wasn’t sure if you were referring to what Simply Static provides or otherwise)

    Best,
    Scott

    Hello Scott:
There is no “simply_static_pages” (or similar) row or table or data in my SQL.

I can’t see any other error logs related to this issue.

    Hi Manuel,

I hate to ask this, but could you try uninstalling and reinstalling Simply Static? The plugin should’ve created a wp_simply_static_pages table. If that didn’t happen then something went terribly wrong when it was installed the first time.

I reinstalled it and now the table is present and the generation seems to work properly. I have to test it more but as I said it seems to be all fine.

Good to hear. Thanks for the update, Manuel!

PS: Is there any way to make it run periodically, for example, using WP-cron (or server’s one)?

Not presently since it relies on a series of ajax request from the browser in order to function. But I’m working on a replacement for that, so hopefully soon you’ll be able to.

Good to hear that, I’ll keep an eye on the updates!
