[Plugin: JQuery Mega Menu Widget] Changing padding messes up sub nav's

I am trying to change the padding of the “a” tags in the menu, as this menu is very large, and I need to make it about half the size. However anytime I change the padding on the menu the sub nav’s that pop out are no longer in the right place.
Does anyone know how to fix this or get around this problem?
