  • @praveenius, i’ve got the jest of it long ago and still haven’t gotten the code that should be used. can u pls repost the code per the rules so it shows?

@wemps, it is NOT explained in “great detail”. free or not, once you contribute to wordpress or to anywhere else you sort of are informally obligated to provide support if your code is to live on and be used.

wemps you’re clearly a pr1ck. If a product does not work it should not be out there. That’s the problem with ‘free’ products there’s no quality control. And people with attitudes like yours should also never be given a voice.

Wow, this thread is getting out of control.

I’m the guy who wrote Job Manager, so I’ll weigh in on this now.

@cke11y: I’m sorry to hear you’re having a hard time with Job Manager. While my friends are welcome to refer to me as a “tw@t”, I think name calling strangers on the internet isn’t really the way to go. You might feel that Job Manager isn’t working for you, but there are plenty of people who are using it successfully.

@farshidk: I am not obligated, informally or otherwise, to provide support for Job Manager. I have provided free support in the past, because I had the time for it. I don’t at the moment, because I don’t have spare time. If you require prompt support, I’m quite happy to give you my contracting rates.

@praveenius: Thank you for posting what you’ve done, (even though it was removed per forum rules). I’d eventually like to see the Job Manager community grow until it’s able to support itself.

While Job Manager is moderately popular, it currently isn’t popular enough to support itself. For those of you in this thread who are after help with customising the look of the Job List, I’ve written up a brief tutorial here:

    https://pento.net/2011/02/20/job-manager-howto-customizing-the-job-list/

If you have any questions after reading that, I’d appreciate it if you posted them as comments on that post – it will help if people come across through Google and have the same questions.

Dear Gary, I more or less stand by my description of you ??
You wrote an application that is clearly aimed at commercial business and yet you have never checked your feedback for issues until now, 2 months after I first asked for help and a full four months after the initial question from another user – which is the SAME question over & over again. Please go and ask your friends what they would think of a kindly developer who wrote a serious good looking program that 90% of people could not use and came with no customization instructions, and said develop checked feedback every 4 months…….

Thanks though, you made me move to Joomla and it was the best thing I could have done

    All the best ??

gary, thanks for the post. i got it working. i had waited for months on this. i use many plugins on my 3 sites and some have good support – not just from the developer but also from the user community. for some reason here there doesn’t seem to be enough contribution. as i told you before on twitter i like your plugin as it is provides a much needed service. i donate money to some of them. next round i’ll donate some to yours as well. and i am considering using paid dev/customization so i will keep you in mind. best.

Wow. I think name calling is a joke and i think Gary is right about not being forced to do anything. I think what is learned here is simple. If a creator doesn’t have time for the plugin/them/code/whatever, don’t use it.

Additionally, since he just stated he doesn’t have time for it any longer, that would tell me it’s a dead piece of code. Right? If it is not being supported…..

What would be nice is someone taking it to the next level. It’s a good idea and not many like it out there

@joel72 get back in your box you kn0bhead
“If a creator doesn’t have time for the plugin/them/code/whatever, don’t use it”

Should read:If a creator doesn’t have time for the plugin/them/code/whatever, THEN DON’T PUT IT THERE AND WASTE EVERYONE’S TIME.

“Additionally, since he just stated he doesn’t have time for it any longer, that would tell me it’s a dead piece of code. Right? If it is not being supported…..

Yes He stated it – 4 MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST ISSUE WAS KNOWN

@cke11y Realy the big problem and he should feel good about this: People like and want to use his code. out of 100,000+ plugins on wordpress his is one that people actually want to use…..

    *shrugs*

@joel72. Yes they do but you my small-minded friend have missed the point. What good is demand if it can’t be used?

    POINTLESS APP, pointless conversation

Like i said, I moved onto bigger & better things a few months ago because of his lack of support so this pointless conversation is just fun for me.

    *shakes head and gives finger*
