I am using the following shortcode:

    [audio https://mysite.com/audio/filename.mp3]

In Google Chrome and all browsers it defaults to flash, not HTML5. It doesn’t even appear in iOS 5 Safari (probably because it is defaulting to flash).

I have deleted all other audio plugins. Any thoughts on why the shortcode is defaulting to flash instead of HTML5?

I have reviewed https://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/ and mp3 with HTML5 should be supported in Chrome, Safari, and IE.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Do you have a sample page where this is happening?

If you look at the source code for this page, do you see “<!– Audio shortcode unsupported audio format –>” in it?

Are there any errors if you look in Chrome’s Web Inspector tool?

I just noticed the same thing; in Chrome and IE9, the player is Flash, not HTML5 as it should be for those browsers. The source code in Chrome and IE9 includes <!-- Audio shortcode source not set -->. I have no other audio plugins installed (I deleted the MediaElement.js plugin during my testing).
