[Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] Contact Form Not Displaying

I’m also using simple facebook connect. I’ll try disabling it and see what happens. sadly though unless I can find a replacement for simple facebook connect I’m going to keep it.

I also use that simple facebook connect.

Can jetpack author solve this bug so that it won’t have conflict with it ?

Me. Too. I use simple facebook connect on a site and the new contact form won’t work. Of course, I already have another solution for a contact form that came with the theme I’m using; but I hope future versions of Jetpack don’t conflict with simple facebook connect, or vice-versa.

Thanks for pointing this out, @shellnick2003. We’re looking into this to see if it is something we can fix from the Jetpack side or if SFC needs a patch. No ETA yet, but I’ll try to keep you updated here.

I also experienced the same problem where the form would not appear. I disabled the “Simple Facebook Connect” plugin and the form appeared. I was only using it to add the Facebook “Recommend” button, so I’ll probably manually add that.

Hm, yes SFC is a very popular plugin. Hopefully whoever has to change their code, it’s a simple change. Looking forward to hearing updates on this.

Heh. This particular mistake is so fundamentally difficult to spot that even the hardcore pros make it from time to time.

This notably happens a lot to contact form plugins. I link to a thread from there where somebody found that using SFC with a different contact form caused emails from the form to be sent 3-5 times each. Same underlying problem.

FYI: I Just wasted nearly an hour troubleshooting because I updated Jetpack and inadvertently activated the new Contact Form portion. This caused the short codes to not expand on my home page (will not work in Widget Areas only on Pages/Posts) for my Contact Form 7 plugin, hence both my client home page contact forms were dead during this time, replaced by visible un-expanded short code from Jetpack Contact Form. Be fore Warned the Jetpack Contact Form will conflict with Contact Form 7 (my testing was with Contact Form 3.1.1 and 3.1.2, WordPress 3.1.3 and Jetpack Contact Form 1.3 released April 23 2012).

I really want this to work. CF7 has become unreliable in some sites I use it on. A well-programmed “official” contact form plugin like this is exactly what WordPress needs right now.

FYI – I don’t have Simple Facebook Connect and the form does not show up. I even deactivated my plugins and still no contact form.

@dgpehrson, you may have a different issue affecting your site. Could you provide the theme and WP version you’re using and perhaps a link?

@cozbaldwin – I’m having the same problem as dgPehrson where I add the contact form onto a new page (Contact Us) and click on “Update” and it disappears. I do not have the SFC plugin and have changed themes and am now filtering through my limited plugins already installed and active. Can you help?
