    Hello,

The Site Kit plugin is slowing down my website. I am not running any tags on any of my pages. I have the plugin configured for:

    • Search Console
    • Analytics
    • PageSpeed Insights
    • Optimize

I have Google Tag Manager but it the settings it is showing it is not connected to my website.

When I use the LightHouse tool, I am getting the following errors:

  • @deborah86 thanks for your topic!

Note that Site Kit without the service connections adds minimal code to your site and has little performance impact. When you connect the services and add the snippet codes (JavaScript/ 3rd party code being flagged in the Lighthouse recommendations above), there can be some performance changes.

It would be the same as adding the code manually or via another method (other plugin/ theme). These codes are needed for enabling tracking and the other features the services provide on their platforms.

When I look at your site in particular, I’m seeing some duplicate code being inserted. It looks like you have Site Kit’s Analytics snippet (although altered) as well as an AMP Analytics snippet inserted on your non-AMP site. The latter should be on the AMP version of your site only (and Site Kit provides this snippet automatically on the AMP version when it detects the official AMP plugin).

    1) Are you using another method to add the AMP Analytics snippet to your site?

    2) Could you temporarily disable your optimization plugin (LiteSpeed) which looks be altering Site Kit’s code in case that is involved in the duplication?

No. I have the official AMP plugin installed. I don’t know if this is adding the snippet twice. It shouldn’t be adding the snippet.

I already spoke with LightSpeed. The plugin is not affecting Google Site Kit. It looks as though the Squirrly plugin was slowing down the website. I have disabled the tracking features from the plugin.

I am now just getting this error in Lighthouse:

    Remove unused JavaScript 0.39 s

@deborah86 thanks for your reply and update.

Note these are not errors, but general recommendations. Tracking scripts are required if you would like to use the tracking services.

It appears my colleague is also assisting you in this topic.

I am seeing something similar. The odd thing is that you have an AMP Analytics code snippet on your non-AMP pages. It may be manually placed or inserted by another plugin. Site Kit will place the AMP Analytics snippet only on your AMP pages. Finding the source and removing this would help with reducing the scripts loading on the page.

I am only using the Official AMP Plugin but the snippet is placed in the app. Does the same team manage both plugins for Site Kite and AMP?
