  • Same issue here. I had to restore from a backup to fix my site. Reported this (“There has been a critical error on your website.”) in another thread and lots of people there are waiting for a fix update but it was marked “resolved.”

@simplecalendarsupport, is there any news on what’s happening with this plugin, please?

Yeah it is still broken, and I just tried to install the last 3 versions and they were all broken and get to the 4th and it worked. They really need to roll back the plugin until they get it fixed correctly.

Jup just updated from 3.1.27 to 3.1.32 and it kills the website.
Rolled back to 3.1.27 and all good.
Had emailed simple calendar (have pro license) but they claim its a server resource issue which Godaddy claim its not.

We’ve been running Simple Calendar on two WP multisite installations for a few years now. And recently every site that had it activated began showing that “critical error” screen. In case it helps others to troubleshoot the problem, at least one of those sites hadn’t even created an event. Just having the plugin activated crashed the site. While activated, we also could not view the Settings or Calendars screens without seeing that same error. We’ve decided to avoid this headache and deactivate it across our nearly 400 sites.

Just upgraded to latest version – and it crashed my site, with same error as others have reported. Will try to find the earlier version to reinstall.

    Hey everyone,

We just pushed out 3.1.33 today. It should address a lot of the issues that have been going on. The plugin was extremely bloated and for some users causing issues installing. We have trimmed things down a lot. You will need to make sure you are running PHP 7.3+ now as well.

Thanks for your patience while we worked through this!

With the 3.1.33 version of the plugin, I was able to successfully update the sites which use it. It took long to update each site, but at least it worked this time. Thank you very much, @simplecalendarsupport!

Well, version 3.1.33 is conflicting with other plugins that use some components from vendors renewed by developers. In readme changelog area, they wrote:

    = 3.1.33 =
    * Fix: Trimmed overall size of the plugin to reduce errors from installation failing.
    * Dev: Updated minimum PHP requirement to 7.3
    * Dev: Updated all vendor packages to latest versions.
    * Dev: Tested up to WordPress 5.5.1

The issue affecting myself is related to BackwpUp that uses “Guzzle PHP HTTP client” but an older version.

Be careful with the fact that Simple Calendar – Google Calendar Plugin developers have updated at least Guzzlehttp.

    Regards Inaki
