    Hi,

    Your plugin stopped working suddenly. I saw the following error:

    EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v2.2.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

    Mailer: Other SMTP
    SMTP connect() failed.

    Are you aware of any sudden conflict?

  • Hi @healthnow,

    The error message indicates that your site can’t connect to the SMTP server. When you get a chance, could you please share a full error log recorded when you send a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Email Test? Here’s a screenshot for the option to get a full error log. This will give us an idea of what might be going on.

    Thanks ??

    I get the same error. Doing and Email Test hangs the site.

    I have tried resetting with another SMTP username. Cannot change password.You say I must change in wp-config.php file. I am not experienced to do this. Is there another way to repair SMTP connection? How many other people are out there sitting with the same problem?

    I have this plugin on all my sites and also had this problem, but only on some of my sites after the last update. Nice big red warning on the main WP dashboard. All I did was to disconnect and reconnect to the same Gmail account and all is good now.

    I’ve tried to “disconnect and reconnect to the same .com account” and the problem persists. I’ve therefore substituted this plugin for another. (Five sites impacted!)

    Hi,

    I have the same problem after the last update. I have tried everything to solve it without any success. This is what i see on the dashboard:

    Mailer: Gmail
    {
    “error”: {
    “code”: 401,
    “message”: “Request had invalid authentication credentials. Expected OAuth 2 access token, login cookie or other valid authentication credential. See https://developers.google.com/identity/sign-in/web/devconsole-project.”,
    “errors”: [
    {
    “message”: “Invalid Credentials”,
    “domain”: “global”,
    “reason”: “authError”,
    “location”: “Authorization”,
    “locationType”: “header”
    }
    ],
    “status”: “UNAUTHENTICATED”
    }
    }

    Could someone help me with a solution?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi @beabudai,

    Thanks for the error details. It seems your Google account is disconnected for some reason. At this time, I’m not sure how that happened but you can reconnect your Google account by clicking on ‘Allow plugin to send emails…’ button and that should fix the issue.

    Also @beabudai, @barrett1308, @sean-h – Please do not comment on the unrelated threads. The original question of this topic is about the ‘Other SMTP’ mailer.

    Thanks~

    @sanzeeb3 I must have missed that bit, we are all trying to multi-task with multiple screens/tabs/windows open etc etc. What I did see was ‘Plugin stopped working suddenly’ and ‘Email deliver error’, and ‘Mailer: Gmail’ in beubudai’s post you just replied to, so my thinking was/is that the problems are related because the plugin seems to be having problems authenticating with any mailer and seeing as I’m having the exact same problems, ie: stopped working, I use Gmail and delivery error so I thought to chime in here too instead of opening multiple threads on the same issue.

    If you are going to blow us off like that, there are other SMTP plugins out there.

    @sean-h , I must agree. I was considering upgrading to their Pro Version, but after @sanzeeb3 response, I’m looking elsewhere. Any suggestion?

    Hi @sanzeeb3, thank you for replying to me. And sorry for commenting on this thread. Shall i open a new ticket than?

    The problem is that there is no Google account connected. I have an other provider and the credentials are correct. Other problem is that there is no button like Allow plugin to send emails… actually i can not see any fields in the plugin options anymore…

    Bea

    @barrett1308 I don’t have any experience with any other smtp plugin. Just type ‘smtp’ into the WP plugin repository. Then look at how popular each plugin is and the reviews/star ratings of each. That’s how I usually shop for plugins. I might let this one slide though, because I’m busy with other things right now, and setting this or any other smtp plugin up is a bit of a juggling act, but if the Gmail auth on this plugin keeps breaking I’ll have to look elsewhere for smtp, because going back to php mailer is not an option.

    This smtp plugin has been fine for months, since I first installed it, which then begs the question, why update/fix something that isn’t broken? An SMTP plugin should be a set it and forget it thing, at least that is what I was lead to believe.
