    In a large site, using:

Set the selected image as new featured image.
Consider only posts without any featured image
No Filter (Or using the all posts and pages filter)

The plugin does not assign the new image to some posts.

In a different angle of the attempt, I omitted using the “consider only posts without any featured image”… and the filter returns the posts… but something is keeping the plugin from choosing to ACT on these posts…

Hi Kim, for me it seems your trouble could be resolved if you would also set the “Overwrite” option

There are hundreds of blog posts that I do not want overwrote. I want the ones that stay the same to stay the same.

The problem is the ones listed as “no image”

I could not reconstruct your case with the action and options you mentioned. The preview list shows the future featured image.

Your screenshot does not look like “Set the selected image as featured” was selected, more like “Set the first content image as featured” and no image was found. Could you acknowledge that?

Here’s what I’m doing. This is a quick screenscast video: https://screencast.com/t/moSjV8B6

Kim, thank you very much for your effort making that video. The effect of the plugin within your installation is really strange.

Unfortunately I could not reconstruct your case on several websites. I have always got the preview list with posts without feat. images and the selected image as future image.

To go on digging into the reasons it would be helpful for me if you would give me access to your website as WP administrator. If you would agree on that please send me the login data to “pewtah at snafu dot de”.

(BTW: I have tried to contact you via https://just-ask-kim.com/contact but the URL always redirect to https://askkim.zendesk.com/hc/en-us. There are no contact informations.)

Kim, finally I have found the bug. The future plugin version 9.1 will display all assigned featured images in the result list. Please wait a few days for the new version.

    (@hinjiriyo)

The bug is fixed with the new version 9.1.

If you would need any support please start a new thread.

If you think the plugin is helpful I would be glad about your review.

Thank you Martin. Apologies that it’s been a crazy family week here and I wasn’t able to get back to you.

Unfortunately, 9.1 still isn’t wanting to play nice and presents the same issue as the prior.

I’ll be in contact with your email address to provide logins once I’m back in the office later this evening.

    Kim

I experienced the same problem with the “Set the first post image as featured image” option.
After reading this thread I decided to wait for the plugin update, but it did not fix the problem.
Then it occurred to me that the first image on the problematic posts had a source of an external website. i.e. they are not included in the website gallery but hosted on another website.
I understand that importing the source file of the first image to the gallery would be a problem as it may infringe copyrighted content.

    I wonder-
    a) Does the plugin consider only the first, *absolute* image on or does it search for the first image that is also included in the gallery ?
    b) would it be possible to add an “import from remote website to gallery” option ? (with a legal disclaimer, of course)

    Thanks your time

    zigmond:

    1) The plugin takes the first image of a gallery builded by the dialog box via “Add media files” button above the editor. Not does it search for other resources.

    2) Importing external images is possible. It will be an option in a “premium” version of the plugin.

Kim, thank you for your login data. I have tried to reconstruct your case, playing with the plugin’s option, of course without changing anything.

Unfortunately I can only say: the plugin’s behaviour in your WP installation is

    really

    really

    really

    strange.

On other platforms the plugin works as expected.

To go on debugging I would need access to the database and files of your installation. But wait! This is a free plugin, given without any warranty. To go on means to me taking some hours for no charge, and I have other works to do. At this point I cannot help you. Sorry.
