• Hello RavanH,

    Hope you’re well.

I’ve just switched my sitemap plugin from Yoast to yours. I generated both XML Sitemap as well as Google News sitemap. The Google News sitemap is displaying 2 links. That is perfectly fine but I am facing an issue in generating sitemap link for the main site. As you can see in the shared URL it is displaying the server URL. If I am submitting it in Search Console it is giving me an error that “Can’t Fetched”

    Pls help! thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Update: It is successfully accepted on search console but displaying “ZERO” urls discovered.

Hi, this is indeed not good.

It looks like your site URL is replaced by a CDN url. Which plugin are you using for that?

By the way, to get around the issue while I try to fix it, you can submit the following sitemaps in Google Search Console:

    /sitemap-home.xml
    /sitemap-posttype-post.xml
    /sitemap-posttype-page.xml

I haven’t installed any specific plugin. I am using the managed WordPress hosting by Godaddy maybe that’s why it’s displaying the server URL, innt? or is there any other problem there?

Update: It is discovered by Bing Bot quickly but Google is taking too long. It wasn’t the case when I was using Yoast. That plugin displayed the actual URLs and was accepted by GSC quickly.

Ah, OK. Managed hosting by Godaddy… It does sound like they are forcing the URLs to their CDN location. Probably because the .xml extensions are seen as static files and therefor should be available from their CDN network.

Is there any option to exclude URLs or file types from CDN in the provider panel settings?

You may get a clearer answer from Godaddy ??

In the mean time, I’ll try to find out more from their public documentation…

Not able to find any useful info in the Godaddy public documentation, and no response on Twitter either, I wonder: could you grant me access to your site admin so I can do a quick test? You can contact me directly via https://status301.net/contact/

Yes, they may be forcing URLs to their URL location, I’m not sure. I was previously experiencing the same error with uploading files to my root domain via ftp where the file URL was still showing the sever URL (Not the actual website URL).

Though, this cannot be an issue from Godaddy as I was previously able to submit site URLs to Search Console using Yoast plugin. Yoast didn’t generate any server URL for sitemaps. This may be a feature lack of this plugin.

The reason I switched to this plugin is that it was offering Google News sitemap for free where Yoast offers a News sitemap extension for $49.

Hope you add up this functionality of displaying the actual URLs in sitemaps for the managed hosting sites.

Hmmm, I do not know when or how Godaddy changes these URLs. They have still not responded on Twitter. Maybe you can contact them through a support ticket as a client?

But if you say the same thing happens even with a static file, uploaded via FTP, then I’m afraid it will be impossible to prevent them from changing these URLs. Apparently, they do some sort of post-processing that cannot be prevented without knowing the secret sauce… So if you can find out more from Godaddy support, please let me know! ??

In the mean time: what you can simply do is use the normal XML sitemap by Yoast and the Google News sitemap from this plugin. Just deactivate the option XML Sitemap Index on Settings > Reading (leave the Google News Sitemap option activated), then re-activate the Yoast sitemap.

You’ll get a warning from Yoast saying something about two sitemaps being active but you can ignore that because it is not actually the case.
