Plugin is 2 years old, is it safe to download?

    The plugin is working fine with last versions of wordpress, buddypress and bbpress. But is no longer supported by his developer. By definition, a plugin without support is not really secure.

    Agreed. I would not touch a plugin that has not been updated in so long.
    It seems that the owner has then sold this thru codecanyon, where it was updated until April 2015. But since then he no longer replies to support requests.

    Codecanyon is a nightmare they offer no support what so ever on any plugin they sell, they simply refer you back to the plugin author, most of whom no longer update or support their plugins.
