Plugin Installed but Not visable in plugins list

    I have had updraft plus installed for a while, and I use it on a few website, it’s a brilliant back up plugin, however, on one particular site, the Plugin is installed, and even backs up to Dropbox, but Updraft plus is not showing or visible in installed plugins page, neither does it have a settings menu any more.

    It simply vanished. I tried via FTP and successfully deleted the plugin from WP-content-plugins as well as WP-content.

    and then I went to settings of WP optimize and clicked a link from there to reinstall the Updraft plugin and I still have the same problem, it is installed again but not visible anywhere, except I can see it has been installed again when I check via FTP on the server. This is the site I have having this problem with.

    I need to change the time for backup frequency. But can’t until the plugin becomes visible again.

    Any help would be much appreciated thanks ??

    Hi,

    It sounds like probably WordPress crashed when doing a plugin update, and left it only partially complete. You should use FTP to remove it completely (wp-content/plugins/updraftplus), then re-install it.

    Hi David,

    Thank you for your responce, I have just done what you suggested:

    I deleted the plugin folder from (wp-content/plugins/updraftplus) There was also another updraft folder that I have also deleted (wp-content/updraft) I deleted both folders. Then from Plugins > Add new, I installed and activated Updraftplus by David Anderson.

    However although the plugin installed and activated with no problems and also can be seen Via FTP here (wp-content/plugins/updraftplus) the second folder can also be seen here as well (wp-content/updraft) just like it was showingn prior to be deleting these two folders.

    The outcome is still the same, being that the plugin is not showing up in WP admin plugins list, neither is it showing in the Admin menu where it is expected to be found in Dashoard > Settings > UpdraftPlus Backups. It isn’t showing anywhere that is visible.

    Are you able to shed any further light on this issue

    Hi Liz,

    I’ve seen something like this before only on a virus-infected site, in which the virus inserts extra code at the top of PHP files. The result of that is to push the ‘header’ that WP looks for so far down the file that WP doesn’t notice it. The best thing to do would be to ask the question to your hosting company so that they can verify the integrity of the files (particularly the file wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/updraftplus.php).

    wp-content/updraft is the data directory. It’s not related to whether the plugin shows in your plugins list.
