There is an anomaly in WordPress that causes it to not close anchor tags that are self-closing (e.g., <a name="xyz" id="xyz" />). The result is that text following such an anchor tag will highlight on rollover like an active link.

I know this is not a problem with Import HTML 2. But unfortunately, the plugin defeats the only workaround I’ve come up with so far, which is to generate html with explicit close tags (e.g., <a name="xyz" id="xyz"></a>).

As part of the import, Import HTML 2 turns the explicit close tags back into self-closing tags, which of course defeats the workaround.

Is there a way to turn off this feature in Import HTML 2? Also, if anyone knows of another workaround or has seen anything about the root WordPress error reported in the forums, can you post a link? I could not find anything in a reasonably careful search of the forums and the web.

There is an example of the effect in WordPress at: https://managingwriters.com/2011/10/19/dmr-to-dita/ Just hover over the first paragraph in the post.

    Thanks for your help.
