Normally, I login to the site and do updates through the updates panel (after ensuring I have the latest backup) and look for any follow up instructions required by plugin updates. I was not prompted that there was an issue with the “Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights” plugin.

When I logged into the site admin just now though, and went into Plugins though, I did receive an error message that “The plugin google-analytics-for-wordpress/googleanalytics.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.”

We re-installed the plugin and it works, but now we have a gap in tracking traffic since March 7. What could have cause this to happen and how can we prevent this in the future?

    Hi there,
In order for that specific error message to happen (which comes from WordPress itself) someone would have had to manually delete the plugin through (s)FTP, and not from the administration panels of WordPress.
