… however, when I log in, all plugins are updated. The theme is avada, and I’ve looked all through the wordpress console and everything has been updated for the last 2 weeks I have been getting this warning email.

Hi @cgl102770, thanks for your message.

There’s a chance that a restart of postfix or sendmail (whichever is installed on your server) could be something to try first as an email may be misreporting as failed (when it’s actually succeeding) and constantly retrying, or stuck in another way. It may stop being re-sent after doing this.

However, if the message appears again, could you paste me the text here from the email (feel free to obscure any sensitive information, but please keep the version numbers of the theme there) along with the current version reported in WordPress > Appearance > Themes > Theme Details for this theme?

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

I think I found the problem, checking on that now with theme support.

Posting the solution in case anyone else has this issue. I was using the Avada theme, and got a wordfence critical problem security vulnerability email saying I needed to update the theme.

When logging into site, there were no outstanding updates. However, with Avada, if you have no other inactive themes installed, new updates do not always show. So, I installed a basic theme, did not activate it, and new needed updates showed up immediately.
