I had this plugin working great, but it’s recently given up the ghost – I think since WP3.0.1 or thereabouts. The counter displays, but won’t count.

I initially suspected a js clash etc., so disabled all plugins, all custom functions, all js etc, still no go.

So then I set up a totally fresh wp install (completely untouched), and tried it out with TwentyTen, Classic, and Default. The box displays, the onkeydown and onkeyup are present in the code, but again, no counting.

Any advice would be very gratefully received! I really need to get this working.

    Hi aljuk,

As far as I can tell, all still works exactly as intended in 3.0.1, although sometimes folks forget what was in the instructions about theme modifications when they update their theme as part of a bigger WP update. (To date, all “it doesn’t work at all!” questions with the current version have come down to theme problems rather than plugin problems.)

In any case, I’ve also just uploaded version 1.5, which streamlines things to make it easier for folks using the new comment_form() function introduced in 3.0 — and largely obviating the need to read the instructions! ?? If you happen to be using it (including with the new ‘Twenty Ten’ theme), give it a whirl and drop me an email back at the main plugin site (not via the generic WordPress forum) if you encounter any problems.

    All the best,
    Greg
