• i installed the latest version of the plugin and went to experiment with it, yet found that soon after i created some test galleries, my media were somehow appropriated by the flash album gallery, and did no longer show on the website’s pages, though the file names still existed in my media library. after disabling and removing the plugin the actual files had also disappeared – i doublechecked this on my server.

in my opinion, a plugin like this should not touch the media already present on a website, and if it uses whatever may be referred to from a page, not move, nor in any way alter, already present content, which was my experience here.

too bad! it looked like a promising plugin, but in my experience unsuited for websites that already run content, and i have seen no warning concerning this serious malfunction.

  • Perhaps, you imported images from wordpress media library folder and not turned off option “delete image files when delete gallery”. You can find this option under FlAGallery -> Options page.

thank you for your reply! this option i may have overlooked, but this still does not explain to me, why exactly one, and one only, image was left untouched and somehow still there on the server, though it definitely did belong in the imported group!?

in my opinion, the reuse of existing images should be embedded in protection measures, and not include deletion. as such images management as deletion a.s.o. can be fully handled by the media interface of wordpress itself, doubling such functions and circumventing the usual pages for the like, is always confusing. the wording of several such dialogue boxes in fiagallery might have confused me (though i am rather precise and a thorough reader) in this case, and i remember thinking indeed several times “what is indicated precisely with this wording here?”.

apart form the above item, there still remains the big big question of why the images did no longer show elsewhere on the website after they were added to an fiagallery gallery, all the already existing pages showed ’empty images’; this is the moment my ‘alarm bells’ started to ring, as the entire site’s content was suddenly badly damaged.

so this was happening already *before* removing the plugin!

I can’t explain what is happens with all other your images that are not imported to FlAGallery, but I’m pretty sure it’s not plugin fault.

i am sorry, but since really nothing else was changed, nor reconfigured, it cannot but be just that.
