[Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps] Slow query on sitemap generation
-
Good day, all.
Any help in sorting this out will be greatly appreciated. I help operate a site with approximate 2500 published posts and add 3 to 4 new posts a day – though these may be changed numerous times as they go through the editing process (which I believe to be an important note relating to how he have the plugin configured). As things stand, when the sitemap generates, it ends up as a slow query – ranging anywhere from 20 to 120 seconds, as captured in the slow query log.
Currently, we have the plugin to configured to rebuild when the blog is changed or updated. A snapshot of the basic settings can be seen here: https://static.esimg.org/sm_basic-options.png.
I’ve considered moving to building the sitemap manually every couple hours via the GET option and a cron job, but I’d prefer not to have to rely on this method. Doing still doesn’t resolve the slow query – it just limits its occurrence throughout the day.
My question really is: should I be running into these slow queries? Do others have have a similar experience? The database is optimized regularly, sits in a Rackspace Cloud Site, and we have 128MB of PHP memory allocated.
Thanks in advance for any input.
