[Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps] How can I manually submit a sitemap to google webmaster tools

I have XML-sitemap installed on my website but when I go into google webmaster tools it says “no sitemaps submitted”. Does this mean the plugin is not working? Can I manually submit my url? If so what do I type in after the URL of my homepage on google?
