  • I tried creating my own sitemap.xml using sitemap.org and google`s guidelines, but got the “X” on google webmaster tools.

    I decided to use Google XML Sitemap`s plugin by Arne Brachhold, but am still getting the “X” on google webmaster tools.

    Since I had the error like “JulioMedina”, I submitted both urls to google as follows:
    https://www.magazine (please combine ->) library.jp
    magazine (please combine ->) library.jp

    However, I am still getting the “X” on google webmaster tools.

    The sitemap is on:
    magazine (please combine ->) library.jp/news/sitemap.xml

    If someone could please take a look at it, I would highly appreciate it.

    Thank you!

    Got the same problem with latest version of google xml sitemap gen & wordpress (404 red cross on webmaster tools, 0 url indexed)

    https://www.masamune.fr/blog/sitemap.xml

    Still no solutions ?
    Edit : Desactivate plug-in, overite with version 3.2.4 ( https://www.arnebrachhold.de/projects/wordpress-plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-generator/#P18DL ) and reactivate. It works fine for now, even for webmaster tools (green tick ;)) and i kept my settings. Still 0 url indexed, maybe a matter of time ?

    I’ll put back version 4.x when it won’t be a beta.

    I’ve been using this plugin with no problems for ages now. However, it stopped working a week or two ago. I didn’t tweak anything, didn’t install new plugins, etc.

    I get a ‘X’ in Google Webmaster Tools:

    We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

    However, I can access https://skattertech.com/sitemap.xml perfectly fine.

    I don’t know what is causing the issue. Even tried generating it again from the settings page manually. It created both the xml and xml.gz perfectly fine.

    Easy fix. Go into your WordPress Settings for your blog -> Select ‘General’ and add www to WordPress address (URL) and Site address (URL). Problem solved. ??

    It already has www ^^’

    Why would you need www? Most popular websites don’t even use www. It’s not required and doesn’t have any advantages.

    If you are already using one or the other, it’s not a good idea to switch back and forth.

    I am just telling you how to fix the issue with the Google sitemap plugin. I fought it for 30 minutes today. After adding it, it worked perfectly and Webmaster tools accepted my sitemap completely. So yes.. it does have an advantage for a poorly coded plugin. ??

    Maxime.. are you using a the default url in the sitemap setup or a custom?

    @amy,
    Sorry, didn’t mean to be rude. Just frustrated as well. It used to work perfectly.

    But I just noticed your website doesn’t have ‘www.’ either. Did you manage to get it to work? Your sitemap.xml seems to displaying data from another plugin? Doesn’t look like what this plugin generates.

    Anyways, I downloaded the beta version of this plugin. It seems to be working. I’m waiting for it to finish indexing, but it already shows about 2,000 links in index as it should be. (It had dropped to 5-10 for a while.)

    Hi sahaskatta,
    Thanks.. and no problem. I was actually having this problem on a different website. It was driving me insane and this definitely resolved the issue for me. I just changed it again and resubmitted, to test.. and sure enough.. it failed all urls, changed it back and it worked.

    Glad the beta is working! I know how frustrating it can be.
    Kind regards.

    @amy > 17 indexed url found. Not as muchas in the new sitemap but it’s a start. I guess it was just a matter of time after the sitemap been validated ^^.
