The plugin doesn’t include any links or references to Google Docs itself, so unless you are linking to a PDF stored on Google Docs (which is possible, and a scenario I’ve never tried) I can’t explain that behavior. If you don’t mind, please send me the URL of the file you’re trying to embed. (If you’d rather not post it here, you can find my email in the GPL statement at the top of gviewer.php).

This is my first plugin, so it’s quite possible there are scenarios I haven’t tested that don’t work well. I’m happy to do my best to fix any that arise.

After investigating this a little bit myself, I’m guessing (and correct me if I’m wrong) you’re linking to a file on your Google Docs account itself. This plug-in doesn’t handle any authentication functions, ie. logging into your google account, so any other user would probably be prompted to login in this case. The plug-in only works with documents that are publicly available, not requiring login to be viewed. I am not sure if “sharing” the file in Google Docs will work around this limitation; if so only if you can “share” with everyone (make it publicly available). I’ve updated the FAQ in an attempt to address this confusion.

If this doesn’t seem to be the same issue, please follow up and I’ll investigate further. If the ability to use this plug-in with restricted Google Docs content is broadly useful, I would consider trying to add it.
