[Plugin: Google Analytics for WordPress] Unfortunately, an error occurred while connecting to Google

hi guys, did you try entering the UA code manually? under the button to authenticate with google, there is a checkbox with this option.

I had the same issue on installing this plugin.

Took mggrnt’s suggestion and entered the UA code manually.

As far as I can see, this works perfectly. (I’ve checked and my Analytics is now receving data from my wordpress install.)

And where can i Find my UA code?:)

Your UA code is in your tracking code under the admin part of google analytics – here is some instructions https://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1032385

I was also having the same prob with it not linking up to google, manually inputting it seems to have worked.

I entered the UA code manually and it worked.

Ive had the same issues… And, for some reason my UA code wouldn’t be accepted. It appears to have too many digits… Any suggestions?

I couldn’t get the google authentication to work, so I entered the UA number manually, but on Google Analytics it is telling me that Tracking is Not Installed. I have set up all the settings in the plug-ins, but am not sure what is wrong.

My site is oldorchardconservancy.org, and it is using WordPress version 3.4.2, and the 4.2.8 Google Analytics for WordPress version.

I looked at the movie, but it looked like it was for a different version.

I’m having the same problem with my site https://www.webimpulse.co.uk. WordPress is updated to it’s newest version and so are the plugins. I have no idea why it shouldn’t work!

Manually entering the UA code should work just fine, the only piece that has been broken was the automatic loading of Account and Property information from Google for the credentials you have authorized.

Not sure why it is taking so long to get fixed, but in the meantime I went ahead and fixed it myself if anyone cares to use it: https://justin.ag/technology/google-analytics-for-wordpress-fixed/

It will require you to manually edit the plugin code, but just cut and paste, and if anyone wants an SVN diff file I can upload that as well.

This plugin works only if you input the UA code manually but I did not find any satisfactory features so deleted it and inserted the code in footer manually on my site toothpasteinreview.com and this is the same with or without the plugin. If you don’t change your theme too often, I’d suggest you do the same.

I’m unable to get a UA code. When I hit the button to authenticate I get a message that says, “The application that directed you here claims to be Google Analytics for WordPress by Yoast. We are unable to verify this claim as the application runs on your computer as opposed to a website. We recommend you deny access unless you trust the application.” I hit “Grant Access” anyway, then I get the message everyone else is getting.

Sorry, you can ignore my question. I just went straight to Google Analytics and got a UA code. It’s working fine now. Thanks.
