Hi lvullers. I can’t help but think this should be made clear in the introduction video, installation instructions, or at the very least the FAQ for this plugin.

You have to make sure that you go here https://www.google.com/analytics/ and set up an account. If you have a Gmail account, then sign-in and follow the prompts. This will establish the connection to your WordPress site.

    Hope this helps.

Not sure what you meant Justus. I am still not able to get this to work.

Once I created my Google analytics account, I went back to the WP site admin tool and the option to select was now activated.

Thank you for your reply Justus.

I already have my Google analytics accounts created few years ago. They are working well. Just cant get the plugin to work.

What problem(s) are you having with it Harish?

Presumably, this is because of Google shutting down the old API that made authentication possible (Google Analyticator is also dead because of it). Guess we have to wait until someone updates their plugin to work with the new setup, then all rush to get that one.

Until then, enter the code manually and just let it track. ??

    hello Justus,

I get this error Unfortunately, an error occurred while connecting to Google, please try again.

I guess as Spike says the API issue. I hope someone makes a good plugin soon. I loved Google Analyticator which my clients loved too.

Harish, If you’re still having trouble, you might try this alternate solution.

Spike, So what functionality are we getting from the Google Analytics for WordPress plugin? Is it just tracking visitors?

Is this the app that’s not supported?

Google Analyticator adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google Analytics logging on any WordPress blog. This eliminates the need to edit your template code to begin logging. Google Analyticator also includes several widgets for displaying Analytics data in the admin and on your blog.

    Hello Justus,

Google Analyticator does add the code. I am talking about general verification of Google Analytics for WordPress plugin.

Due to the API change things have stopped working. Now only manual option is good.

I loved Analyticator plugin as it had stats widget in the dashboard. The developer of it has announced that he would not longer support the plugin or further develop it.

I have already began creating my own plugin as my clients really liked the dashboard stats since most don’t want to login to Google analytics.

I am not great in PHP, so I guess it would take me a month or more to first create a test plugin.

I’m in the same boat. I’m logged into my analytics account, but when I try to connect to a profile and grant access, it gives me an error.

I as well, using a google account i’ve used for years, i have other even yoast plugins tracking other sites, but adding a new site today and get this error as well. thanks

Same for me – I have a multisite setup and have successfully authenticated several of the sites, however I am getting the above error when trying to authenticate to add a new site.

Got the same problem, after updating the plugin and trying to reconnect to Google Analytics, it’s failing.
