What character encoding is your site set to?

UTF-8

If you are happy editing database tables, the temporary solution is to change the collation (character set) for the ‘value’ column in the wp_gcb table to utf8 (in my phpmyAdmin it is called ‘utf8_bin’).

I’ll put a fix in place in the next version.

Can we expect a problem with character encoding in the near future?

A fix will be included in the next update. Just adding a couple of additional new features at the momment but shouldn’t be far away.

I’ve met the common problem but with Czech language where ? or ŕ by numerical code (I’ve tried both) isn’t displayed correctly by the plugin. I’ve checked this character in WP blog pages (in titles and post bodies) and everything displays fine there. It is also displays correctly at the Text editor tab in Global content bock plugin, but changes to the ? sign in Visual editor tab and on the final page.

Other characters like á or ? are ok, just ? is wrong.

I’ve updated plugin with a new version and with a Czech ? character it still doesn’t work =(

The database collation is utf8_bin

The plugin uses UTF-8 which is an international standard. Maybe it doesn’t support your Czech ? character?

That could be so, but posts with ? character and pages with ? character display correctly.
