I’m interested in replacing a similar plugin that seems to have been abandoned by the developer, so it’s not compatible with WP 3.3.1.

With that said, Global Content Blocks provides exactly what I’m looking to replace and adds additional functionality for me as an administrator/developer. I’d like to “dumb down” the process for other users of the plugins by offering a visual editor option to the plugin.

    Is this possible?

It’s being considered for the next release.

Would be interested to know what the other similar plugin is?

The plugin is called “WordPress reusables” by Ian whitcomb.

After posting this, I decided to try and patch the conflict myself. I know little of php, so I don’t know if I did it right, but I fixed the functionality with the plugin yesterday.

I’m still interested in pursuing the use of global content blocks.

BenZ – I just found this plug-in today and am replacing all wp-includes on our website. That said, I would ABSOLUTELY BOW DOWN TO YOU if we could edit the content blocks with TinyMCE Advanced Visual Editor.

Prepare to bow down! You’ll be glad to know I’ve just added a visual editor, just doing some final tweaks and will be uploading to the repository within a few days ??

Wow, that was so fast, I just had to send a donation your way. Thank you!

Thank you so much cwlee, very generous of you and much appreciated. This is actually only the 2nd donation I’ve received. Developing and maintaining the plugin is a labor or love so it’s nice to receive some appreciation from time to time ??

Just had a look at your website. This is definitely a service I could use for a new IT product I’m about to launch. Will have a closer look later although I suspect you might be out of my league and budget. Nevertheless, very timely and I can’t help thinking that our paths have crossed for a reason so you never know what might come of it…

    Thanks again,
    Ben

FYI, version 1.5 has just been uploaded to the repository and includes a visual editor as well as an option to use variables within content blocks. See https://wpxpert.com/category/gcb-advanced-usage/ for advanced usage instructions.
