[Plugin: Gigs Calendar] Upcomming gigs in left sidebar

The “shortcodes” won’t work outside the loop, since these are not registered as such to wordpress, but gc replaces them in content only.

But why don’t you just simply use the upcoming-widget and place it where you want it to appear in your sidebar?

I am also interested in this. I have separate “widgetised” areas for my websites homepage and then the sidebar (widgets etc) for all other pages. Once I have used the upcoming-gigs widget in the sidebar, it disappears from the available widgets list so I’m not sure how to then use it elsewhere (on the homepage for example).

Am I missing something obvious here? The other widgets don’t seem to behave in this way. For example, you can have as many Text/html widgets as you want all over the place. With the upcoming gigs widget, it seems like it can only be used in one place.

Well, multi-widgets are a little harder to handle. That’s why most widgets that are not part of a wordpress release are single-widgets, I guess.

Changes must be applied to gigs-calendar.php – but will be overwritten when updated. That must be taken care of in advance.

I do not see an easier way to achieve that behavior elseways. Can anybody proof me wrong on that?
