• So, we’re using a modification of the Arthemia theme – “we” being https://www.theconventionfansblog.com

For at least three WordPress versions we’ve used the Custom Fields feature built in to select the thumbnails that the theme displays in the post lists.

Now that WordPress actually has a post-thumbnails functionality I’d like to start using the Featured Image interface, instead of Custom Fields, to select the image displayed next to post excerpts in our article lists.

To that end I’ve installed Get The Image.

I’ve got Get The Image installed and setup properly for the Headline and Featured Post regions of the home page, but it is NOT giving priority to the image set in the Custom Fields section of the post interface. In fact, the images we’ve had set in Custom Fields field doesn’t display at all using Get The Image.

I figure there must be some little setting in the get-the-image.php file I need to set, but I haven’t been able to figure out what.

Our Custom Fields region is set up so that you select a Name, either “enclosure” or “Image”, then paste in a path in the Value field. We set Name to “Image” and put “uploads/2011/05/image-name.jpg” in Value. The graphic selected is then displayed as a thumbnail next to the story excerpts on the home page.

I hope that all makes sense. We haven’t upgraded to 3.3 yet and I have a beginner level of PHP skill.

I’d REALLY like a solution that doesn’t involve me going through three years of posts and setting a Featured Image.
