    I want to use Indian language ‘marathi’. It is available under gengo and I successfully selected that language. But when I write something in that language with UTF-8 encoding it appears only by ?????
    How to solve this problem ?

    Secondly from where can I download .mo file for this language ?

  • I’m sorry but those languages needs to find someone who can test them, because I can’t even know if I’m installing the right one… neither where to download .mo files for WordPress (the Gengo ones actually needs to be provided by someone who knows that language).

    I had the same problem with question marks showing up in header & sidebar, using gengo with Arabic, another non-roman-alphabet language. I used phpMyAdmin to look at the database files, and changed the character encoding of all of them (by hand!) to UTF-8. for some reason, some of the fields were set on a swedish character encoding, even though I had set it to UTF-8 in the WP/gengo interface!

    if there are any places in the blog where your language’s characters are showing up correctly, look at the database and see what the encoding is for those fields… then apply that encoding to all the fields.
