Plugin Generates Backlinks for Developer

    Thought this might be a handy widget in a theme that doesn’t have many social features, but after installing it and placing it in the sidebar, I noticed an extra little bit of text in the bottom right hand corner.

    Lo and Behold! It’s a brand new outbound link complete with Keyword Anchor Text!

    In the options list there is a dropdown menu labeled “Promote Author”. It is defaulted to “O.K. Sure”. But when you try to select “NO” and save, it switches right back to “O.K. Sure”.

    Pretty sneaky.

    Then, when I decided to check out all the five star reviews to see if they mentioned this, it turns out that 4 out of the 5 reviewers created their account the same day as the review…
