• I just noticed that the graphics for GD Star Rating are no longer showing up. I wasnt immediately informed so I dont know if its in the last update but it is definately in the last few days or a week.

I have disabled gravity and a few other plugins to see if there was a compatibility issue and no change.

I turned off (and renamed the directory) for caching in GD star rating to see if it was related to caching and no luck there.

I put in shortcode into the page with default rating block to see if it had anything to do with my template or multi rating but it appears to be consistent throughout.

I also pulled a new copy of the latest version of the plugin and deactivated then overwrote all files to insure that the upgrade didnt miss something when I did it with the WP automated upgrade.

Each graphic location points to the gfx.php file and all values appear to be normal.

Here’s a page with the rating (upper right) https://www.offdutygamers.com/2012/03/warp-review/

    One of the images reports

    <img src="https://www.offdutygamers.com/wp-content/plugins/gd-star-rating/gfx.php?value=4&set=oxygen&size=12&max=5" alt="4/5">

Never run into this before but I’ll keep trying, appreciate any information you can provide.

Nothing? Come on now gotta be someone out there.

Today I pulled the plugin files out (left db alone) and then uploaded all fresh files.. no change

Disabled any plugin that changed in the last month.. no change

Pulled out the GD Star Rating .16 and uploaded the .15 files… no change

Getting a little desperate here, if I dont hear anything I guess the next will be to do a full db nuke of the GD Star Rating plugin data which I really dont want to do.

Since I am migrating hosts I backed up the current site and moved to new host and still getting the issue.

Most likely you need to rescan for the graphics, since plugin is caching that to make things faster. When you change hosts, this data becomes invalid. Do it from the plugin Grpahics panel.

Just tried that again with no effect. I currently have two sites going, the live one on the old host and the new one via IP so I am testing a few scenarios.

Current thinking is that maybe a change happened with custom template so Im trying some default ones first to confirm.

On the new host I used the plugin tool to reset (drop and recreate) all tables. I recreated the template and reset reviews but getting the same thing.

Also, since the new host is not being viewed I turned off EVERY plugin except GD Star Rating to rule out any interference. Still nothing.

I did get stars to show when I rendered a block to the screen which was USER review so I know it CAN render the stars. I just dont know why it cant on my block or the default templates.

I don’t see any GDSR code (css or js also) on https://www.offdutygamers.com/2012/03/warp-review/. One of the things that could be the problem based on the image URL you posted, is that cache is not working (wp-content/gd-star-rating/cache), maybe it is not writable.

    Thread Starter Rigger82

    (@rigger82)

Ah, interesting thought, I’ll check the server for the cache folder permissions. Is there an article about what permissions should be set?

    Thread Starter Rigger82

    (@rigger82)

under Tools > Cleanup I see the Cache is set for wp-content/gd-star-rating/cache/ but there is no such directory and all folders are 755 and files 644

Does the plugin automatically generate that directory in wp-content and if so maybe there is the issue but on two hosts that seems odd. If you have the structure of that caching folder maybe I can manually create it and verify that the stars show up. At least that might narrow the issue to folder/file creation.

Thanks in advance for the help.

got them back on but not sure what it means.

You got me thinking about the cache and the missing files so I was going over the Settings. Under Plugin Features I disabled ‘Use graphics generator to generate and display static stars images.’ and now the graphics are showing up. Unless an upgrade set that differently then I am not sure there isnt still a problem but at least now it is showing up with stars which gets me back on track.

    Any ideas?

Plugin tries to create folders, but it requires wp-content to be writable. Most likely folders ownership is not set properly on your new system.

    Thread Starter Rigger82

    (@rigger82)

Ok, what should the ownership be since this worked before but then something changed and whatever it is still exists after moving over to the new host. Either its something that was carried over to the new host or both hosts have some apache setting for ownership off. I would like to get the proper or expected ownership and be able to discuss it with the host(s).

    Thanks
