[Plugin: Front-end Editor] Enable/Disable Editing Function on Pages?

Is it possible to create a button where you can turn editing “off” or “on”. Sometimes, it gets annoying having different things highlight as I am scrolling down. I plan to make a button where it won’t allow editing until you turn the plugin “on”.

I am going to try to add a js function in my theme to do this, but if this has been talked about before, would like to see the way ( I looked and couldn’t find anything)
