[Plugin: Front-end Editor] Cannot follow links on editable fields in safari

In Safari (in using 5.0.1) trying to single-click on links in an editable region does not appear to work, while editing works as usual. All of the links function as expected when not logged in or when using firefox and even right clicks work normally (I can right click and “open link in a new tab” fine.)
Is this a CSS issue or a bug with the plugin?
