I opted to try this plugin because I needed forms with features that contact7 would not do, specifically save form submissions to the database. I saw that formidable would do this so I gave it a try.

The plugin works great, and is very easy to use. The pro version looks really good and is mostly likely worth the money 2X.

But I HATE when a plugin author hides or is not up front with what comes free and what comes with the pro version, forcing you to spend your time figuring it out for yourself. That is what appears to be happening here.

I could not find any info stating that I could not access the contact records nor could you use captcha unless you pay for the pro version, yet that seems to be the case.

So, after finding, configuring, adding reCaptcha, searching for info again… I am back using contact form 7 again. I may go ahead and go with formidable pro, it does look great, but I may just avoid it out of my irritation with their less than forthright marketing. Again, I hate that kind of sales practice. Just say what is included and what comes extra with a bit of money.

Sorry for your frustration. The features are not laid out on the plugin page on www.remarpro.com because they removed my plugin and would not replace it until I removed all but one reference to Formidable Pro, including the Pro feature list. If you would like a list of Free vs Pro features, please check the list on my blog at https://blog.strategy11.com/formidable-wordpress-plugin/

If you still feel this is unclear, please know that it is not an intentional marketing scheme to get people to install the free version. reCaptcha and Akismet integration are both available in the free version. There is a link to the correct WP reCaptcha plugin under the basic fields list if you don’t have it or Akismet installed and activated.

    Good luck to you.

    Steph

I’ll add to this. The user manuals provided are very limited and even if you pay for the plugin you’re not granted permission to post on the developers forum!!

Well you do if you pay for the most expensive option, but seriously is it that big a deal to provide one small part of the forum where simple commoners who pay for the plugin can post their questions? Even if you can’t be bothered to deal with such minions at least other customers might then support each other.
