Plugin for Paid Membership to an Organization

I’ve been searching but haven’t found a plugin/ combo of plugins to manage paid (PayPal Standard) memberships to an organization. Can anyone make any suggestions?

I don’t think we want to use the Roles/ Capabilities built in to WordPress. Members never login to the site to do anything, so maybe using Roles/ Capabilities is a possibility (advice appreciated)?

– The membership does not affect content availability on the site.
– The membership does allow the member to be listed in a business directory (which doesn’t have to be built in to the plugin as we can manage it elsewhere- the directory listings need to be moderated and approved anyway).
– Ideally the plugin would provide auto emails when memberships are expiring, but not having this is not a deal breaker. Maybe even auto renew option would be cool.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. The old developer set it up as an event in Event Espresso, which causes all kinds of extra work and problems the client doesn’t like. Currently the site is also using Pods (Version 1.9.4), so a solution using that would be acceptable.
