Plugin for Linking taxonomy/location to email domain

I would like to restrict account registrations limited to .edu domains. Additionally, based on the email domain (@universityname.edu), I would like to map the “universityname” portion to a taxonomy/location list.

Ultimately when a user logs in with their .edu email, the content displayed will default filter to their university based on the “universityname” of their email..

Are there plugins that can support all or a part of these desired functions?
