Plugin for letting visitors download files?

  • Hi everyone,
    I’ve been looking around but haven’t found anything to suit my needs.
    Basically i have a website for students and I’d like them to be able to download essays/notes etc from my website.
    I’m hoping to have a section of my site where people can download files (pdf or doc(x)) from my website to their computer. I’d like it to be a major database in the future full of files.
    Is there such a thing?
